Last Respects

18 Jun
One day the members of a large church were greeted with a sign on the front door. The sign said: “The person who has been hindering your walk with the Lord has died.”

We invite you to attend the funeral after this mornings service.” At first everyone was sad to hear that one of their fellow members had died, but after a while they started getting curious about who this person might be that had hindered their walk with the Lord.

The interest grew as the members arrived to pay their last respects. Everyone wondered: “Who is this person who was hindering my progress?” One by one the members got closer to the coffin and when they looked inside it they suddenly became speechless. They stood over the coffin, shocked and in silence, as if someone had touched the deepest part of their soul. There was a mirror inside the coffin and everyone who looked inside it could see their own reflection.

One by one the members realized that they had only themselves to blame for not taking time to read their Bible daily, not going to the Lord in prayer, not allowing God to use them, not serving the Lord as they should. It was no ones fault but their own that they were not growing in their walk with the Lord. It wasn’t long til conviction set in, repentence was put forth, revival broke out, and lives were changed. Are you hindering your own walk?

A Little Rock woman was killed yesterday after leaping through her moving car’s sunroof during an incident best described as “a mistaken rapture” by dozens of eyewitnesses.

Thirteen other people were injured after a twenty-car pile up resulted from people trying to avoid hitting the woman who was apparently convinced that the rapture was occurring when she saw twelve people floating up into the air, and then passed a man on the side of the road who she claimed was Jesus.

“She started screaming “He’s back, He’s back” and climbed right out of the sunroof and jumped off the roof of the car,” said Everet Williams, husband of 28-year-old Georgann Williams who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“I was slowing down but she wouldn’t wait till I stopped,” Williams said. She thought the rapture was happening and was convinced that Jesus was gonna lift her up into the sky,” he went on to say.

“This is the strangest thing I’ve seen since I’ve been on the force,” said Paul Madison, first officer on the scene.

Madison questioned the man who looked like Jesus and discovered that he was dressed up as Jesus and was on his way to a toga costume party when the tarp covering the bed of his pickup truck came loose and released twelve blow up sex dolls filled with helium which floated up into the air.

Ernie Jenkins, 32, of Fort Smith, who’s been told by several of his friends that he looks like Jesus, pulled over and lifted his arms into the air in frustration, and said “Come back here,” just as the Williams’ car passed him, and Mrs. Williams was sure that it was Jesus lifting people up into the sky as they passed by him, according to her husband, who says his wife loved Jesus more than anything else.

When asked for comments about the twelve sex dolls, Jenkins replied “This is all just too weird for me. I never expected anything like this to happen.”

Somebody’s Always Watching

Author: Jimmy D. Brown

Even when we don’t think they are, they are. Even when we don’t see them, their eyes are upon us. Even when we don’t pay any attention, they do. Somebody’s always watching. I got an ugly reminder of that earlier today.

We pulled into the Hampton Inn to grab a room for the night and there was one other vehicle under the registration awning as we arrived. The vehicle immediately got our attention because it had license plates that read GOSPEL. The familiar “fish” was plastered near the back bumper. And there were other Christian messages adorning the front of the vehicle as well. We knew these must be some of the brethren.

And then, it happened.

They locked their keys in the car. Apparently, it was the wife’s fault, judging from the tantrum and explosive words the husband began throwing at her. Unaware that we had pulled up behind them, unaware that anyone was watching, unaware that someone who had observed all their Christian decorations had their eyes locked on them, and unaware that their testimony for Christ was on open view.

Topic: Does everything happen for a reason?

17 Jan

Do you believe everything happens for a reason? Why or why not?

I believe that God is in charge and he allows bad stuff to happen to me sometimes but he doesn’t not cause the bad stuff. I get really narked sometimes though as it feels like he is not there or I get hurt or bad stuff happens. But God still loves me and is still with me and helps me. Not always the way I want to get helped though.

I discovered after my strokes that I have been able to help other people whose families had strokes and stuff. So that is really good! Thats what I think anyway! :)
